Biography

Mrs. Faustina Obeng Karikari is the Ag. vice Principal of SDA College of Education. She is a native of a town called Tokuroano in the Krachi East District of Oti Region of Ghana. She had her Secondary Education at Worawora Secondary School from 1989 to 1993. She continued her education at Jasikan Training College at Jasikan from 1994 to 1997 where she obtained a 3Year Post-Sec. Teachers’ Certificate “A”. On completion of the Teachers’ training programme, she taught at Akonoma D/A Primary School from 1997 to the year 2000.

In the year 2000, she proceeded to the University of Education, Winneba, where she obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree in year 2004. She again went to the University of Cape Coast, where she had her Master of education M.ED degree in 2014. That notwithstanding she again went to Ajumako to do a top up programme where she had her Master of philosophy MPhil degree in the year 2020. Currently, she is a PhD candidate at the University of Education, Winneba in Applied Linguistics Department.

In 2006, she was employed as a Tutor at SDA College of Education in the languages department. She was promoted to Senior Tutor in the year 2022. She attained the rank of deputy director of education in the year 2016 when colleges were under Ghana Education Service (GES). She has served as a senior Tutor in the College for nineteen years, and has taught for a total number of twenty five years.

At the SDA College of Education, she rose through the ranks to become an Assistance Lecturer in the year 2025. She was a house mistress and a warden at different halls and different years in the college.

She was the coordinator for the Ghana Teacher Licensure examination (SDA College of Education Centre) in 2024, she was also the coordinator for the GES promotion examination conducted at SDA College of Education also in 2024. As Vice Principal, she assists the Principal in the general governance and leadership of the College. She is the Academic Head and Chief Disciplinary Officer in the College. She is responsible for teacher evaluation and supervision, Student discipline, maintaining schedules and handling of logistical matters. She also handles complaints, resolves conflicts or grievances and settles disputes. She assists the Principal to coordinate the affairs of the college. Mrs Faustina Karikari assists the Principal to discuss policies, educational activities, Professional Development programmes and colleges Student behavioural issues with Staff. Mrs. Faustina Karikari’s vision is to train teachers in an environment which fosters Student and teacher growth in order to produce competent, resourceful, creative and useful members of society.

Mrs. Faustina Obeng Karikari is married to Mr Walter Karikari a Regional Auditor of Northern Region, Tamale. They have two children.
